Police Lieutenant Brian Zach, after rescuing and comforting a 2-year-old girl named Kaila who was severely injured, decided to adopt her. The two spent time together at an indoor community event before officially adopting Kaila.
Policemen do their best to rescue and help people. However, they sometimes go beyond their duty to ensure that people feel safe under their care. For example, lt. Brian Zach always thought about the day when he could not save a 13-month-old baby.
He always felt motivated to do his job better so that this never happened again. Recently, while the kind police officer was working a night shift, he received a call about a 2-year-old girl.
The name of the girl was Kaila. When Officer Zach met her, she had a skull fracture, a bleeding brain, and a dislocated elbow. His heart instantly felt for this little girl covered in bruises, but she was happy.
He spent hours with the little girl and comforted her. The two of them did some coloring and watched the animation movie "Wreck-It Ralph" together. The little girl had touched Officer Zach's heart. She held his hand and would just kind of pet him.
Kaila soon got admitted to the hospital for her treatment. As the little girl was getting her treatment, the officer decided to bring her home. He told his wife about Kaila and asked her if she was ok with the decision.
Officer Zach immediately accepted the offer of protective services as they could not find immediate placement for Kaila. Even his wife stepped in to help the little girl. After they brought Kaila home, she was already calling Officer Zach's wife 'mom' or 'mommy.'
Officer Zach was the 'guy' for a few days. However, after she joined the preschool, she started to call him dad. Soon Kayla came under their care ultimately, as they officially adopted her. Kingman Police Department's chief of police, Rusty Cooper, stated, "Lt. Brian Zach's commitment to public safety is exemplified in his commitment and love for Kaila. Both Brian and his wife Cierra are amazing parents."
