Jonny, his son Jack, and their dog live in a beautiful tiny house in Australia. Located on a gorgeous plot of land, the tiny house provides a perfect mix of nature and privacy for the small family.
Jonny says the choice to downsize into a tiny home was primarily a financial decision. The housing market made it difficult to find an affordable place to raise his son, so he built a brand new tiny home instead.
The main house is where the two spend most of their time, but Jonny added an additional pod to give them extra space when needed. The unit is separate from the rest of the house and serves as a creative space filled with instruments and media.
Despite living in a tiny house, Jonny and his son utilize the space well and keep up with hobbies like gardening, skiing, and biking. Jonny brought a shipping container to the property, which houses sports equipment and tools they don’t use as often.
Jonny spent a lot of time researching tiny homes to know exactly what he wanted before purchasing. He explains some of his aesthetic and functional choices throughout the process and what has worked well.
The most functional room is the kitchen which has plenty of counter space, big windows, and even a television. Jonny cooks often and wanted the kitchen to be a special place in his tiny home.
Jonny and his son both love living in the tiny house and look forward to many more years there. Jonny says that living in the tiny house has taught him what he doesn’t need and encouraged him to experience more out of life.
