On October 23rd, 1968, Elvis Presley’s movie ‘Live a Little, Love a Little’ was released. Presley starred alongside 1920s singing idol Rudy Vallee in the musical comedy. The film featured the hit Elvis song ‘A Little Less Conversation.’
In the movie, Elvis plays the role of ‘Greg Nolan,’ a newspaper photographer who lives an easy, carefree life until he meets a woman named Bernice on the beach. Elvis falls in love with Bernice and her eccentric ways even though she gets him fired from his job.
The performance by Elvis is another all-time classic. He wears an all-black suit with a white turtleneck shirt while singing to a woman. Elvis walks her through a party, puts her coat on, and hops in a car with her.
Elvis sings the rocking lyrics, ‘A little less conversation, a little more action, please. All this aggravation ain’t satisfactioning me. A little more bite and a little less bark. A little less fight and a little more spark. Close your mouth and open up your heart, and baby, satisfy me.’
The song ‘A Little Less Conversation’ was remixed in 2002 and peaked at number 50 on the Billboard Hot 100, and it was number one on the U.K. Singles Chart for four weeks. The song has been covered by several artists over the years too.
This was the last Elvis film before he filmed the ‘68 Comeback special. He is in great physical shape as a 33-year-old heartthrob. Although the movie only contains 4 songs from Elvis, it still features plenty of ‘The King.’
While this film wasn’t Elvis’ most successful, it is still an interesting departure from the typical Elvis movie plots. His charisma and talent are fully displayed during the film, which features more Elvis acting than singing.
